Dinner at Hoko

Dinner favourite

We sometimes end up at Hoko for dinner after work, and it always goes a bit like this:

1x Hong Kong Classic French Toast
  1x With Peanut Butter
1x Scrambled Eggs Char Siu BBQ Pork Rice
1x Lychee Yakult Ice
1x Pineapple Ice
1x Swiss Wings (5pcs)

Note to self: Remember to go to the new flat, not the old one, after work tonight.

Moving day

Bye bye, home 😢

Moving out

I always find it sad to move out of a place, no matter where I’m moving to, and this place has been the place I call home for much longer than I could have ever imagined when I moved in in April 2014.

Flat 7 has been a nice little place, and I’ve particularly enjoyed how easy it’s been not to buy a lot of stuff when living here. It just wouldn’t fit!

All good things come to an end, and we’ve realised it is time for a bit more space. Getting up at different times or both of us working from home hasn’t been easy when there’s no separate room and no doors.

On Wednesday, we’re moving into a temporary flat until we can get our new home. Hopefully, it shouldn’t be too long now!

End of an era

I’m moving on Wednesday, so today was the last Saturday with this particular routine.

How (A)I built this blog

AI is definitely a big help for me as an infrequent coder. For a while now, I’ve been pasting code and errors into Claude or ChatGPT to get some help, like ā€œWhat does this error mean?ā€ or ā€œWhat is the correct way of doing this in React?ā€

The blog you’re reading right now is the first time I’ve let the AI actually build an application. Admittedly, it’s very basic: a static site generator in Python, using templates and publishing to the web, but looking back, I haven’t actually written a single line of code or barely even looked at one.

Here’s what I did…

Wish I were here

We’ve just had the two hottest May days or record in the UK, and I’ve been wishing it was last summer again and I were in Svalbard.

It was too hot for a day trip, really, but even more too hot to stay in London! 🄵

First post!

Welcome to my new blog!

Like so many things these days, it all started with an AI prompt:

I miss personal blogs and an Internet free of slop and ads.

I want to build a pre-algorithm kind of site for myself. I want it to kind of feel like a platform but don’t want anyone else on there, no likes or anything.

It will be a mix of photos and short text.

After spending a few hours writing a spec, I now have a custom-built site generator in Python resulting in the site you are looking at right now.

What a time to be alive!
