Flatlay of the items in my bag

What’s in my bag

One of my little projects to get ready for autumn is rebooting my everyday carry (EDC), and I think I’m done enough for a trial in the real world.

Here’s what I will carry, starting with my commute tomorrow.

  1. Aer Day Sling 4 Max Ultra bag. I’m quite excited about this bag, and I think it looks great. Big enough to fit my brolly and iPad, plus a few bits and bobs, but nothing more, and I quite like the material. Not as laptop-baggish as some of their other bags.
  2. iPad A16 and Apple Pencil. The newest addition to my setup. I won’t always carry this around, but there are times when it’s quite handy.
  3. Apple USB-C charger and cable. I don’t tend to run out of battery, so a power bank seems unnecessary. I doubt it would even be charged when I need it. That’s why I just bring a charger, for that just-in-case situation. This is an old one, from when Apple still included them with the iPhone.
  4. AirPods Pro 2nd gen. On my commute, I tend to stream the Today programme in the morning and PM in the evening, so I definitely want a pair of headphones.
  5. Leuchtturm notebook. Dot grid notebook for daily scribbles and notes.
  6. Muji pen case and pens. I use Muji’s 0.7mm gel pens for all my notes, and I get through quite a few each year. I carry one black and one red, plus a thin marker. I’ll replace the case itself with a better one once I find one.
  7. Muji card case. I bring a relatively small number of cards: a physical payment card for when Tesco’s tills act up, my driving licence as ID, and a National Art pass for the weekend. Plus a couple of plasters. The case itself is a temporary solution, as I’m still on the lookout for a good one.
  8. Arket packable tote. For when I need to pick up a few groceries on the way.
  9. Uniqlo invertible umbrella. This umbrella has survived a couple of years already, which is quite something in London.
